Want to detox your skin, improve plumpness and overall skin GLOW!? Book yourself a Gua Sha facial, stat!

Just over 12 months ago I learned that Gua Sha facials were the *hot* skin trend of the moment (along with crystal rolling, which I'll save for another blog post!).

Initially it caught my interest after seeing the pretty Gua Sha tools! Because who doesn’t love rose quartz!?

So, of course, I dived in deeper, realised how amazing this method is, did a heap of study and practice, and now I present to you, Beauty of Arcadia’s Beauty of Balance Facial. Not only does this facial visibly improve skin quality, it also puts you in a deeply relaxing state.

BUT… before you close this tab thinking its a whole load of hippie crystal non sense, let me break down everything you need to know about this skin care GAME CHANGER!!

What is Gua Sha:

Gua Sha, pronounced GWA SHA, is a type of massage used in the world of Chinese medicine.  This Traditional Chinese Medicine technique, Gua Sha, has been used for thousands of years, and is often referred to as the “Eastern Facelift’.

While being an Eastern technique, there is lots of Western research and evidence to prove this treatment is effective. The massage is performed using a Gua Sha tool. In ancient times was made out of animal bones such as horns, but most commonly now of either jade stone or rose quartz.

The tool is applied to the skin with a pretty heavy hand and is quite literally scraped across the skin. For facial Gua Sha, the pressure is MUCH lighter, and scraped in an upwards and outwards motion. The pressure is firm but light enough to not hurt or bruise.

Benefits:

Studies have shown an increase in circulation from the Gua Sha technique, and better flow to the face not only helps clear up & heal acne, it aids the skin’s ability to purge the dirt, sebum, and general buildup in the pores that can lead to acne.

This improved blood flow to the skin’s surface which promotes healing, also breaks up fascia which releases tension. This helps tone your facial muscles, helps improve the contours of your face and encourages collagen production to firm the face up!

This technique also helps promote lymphatic drainage, and helps your skin retain it’s natural moisture and glow! After regular Gua Sha facials you’ll begin to notice that your skin is plumper, brighter and with far less visible lines!

Think of it like a pilates class, but for your face. The more you do it, the better the results.
